What Does Unlimited Km Mean In Car Rental?

It means the company does not limit how far you drive, and does not charge you for the distance. You pay for the time you have the car, and the odometer does not come into it.

What It Is Compared To

The usual alternative is a kilometre allowance. The agreement gives you a set number of kilometres, often per day, and charges a rate for each kilometre past that number.

So two hire cars can show the same weekly figure and cost very different amounts. The one with the allowance costs more the moment you drive a long week.

Where The Word Gets Slippery

Unlimited is not always unlimited. There are usually conditions attached, and they are worth reading before you sign.

  • It can start at seven days or more, with an ordinary kilometre allowance on anything shorter.
  • It can apply to the small cars and not the larger ones.
  • It can stop at the edge of a stated region, so driving further brings the limit back or costs extra.

What To Check In The Terms

Look for the kilometre line itself, not the summary on the booking page. It will either give a number or say unlimited.

If it gives a number, find the per kilometre rate next to it, then work out your real week. Most people underestimate their own driving.

How MCSyo Does It

Every car on our list has unlimited kilometres, with no daily allowance, no weekly allowance and no distance charge. It is the same on every car, and it does not depend on how long you rent for.

We explain the whole arrangement on our page about unlimited km car hire in Perth, including what else the weekly price covers.

Why We Do It That Way

Most of our drivers rent the car to earn with it. Distance is the job for a rideshare driver, and a kilometre charge punishes the drivers who work the hardest.

It also makes the week easy to plan. One price for the car, and you drive.
